YAKIMA, WA - Two marches to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Junior are going on Monday in the Yakima Valley.

The Martin Luther King Junior Peace March in Yakima starts at 11 AM. The march goes from Second Street and MLK Boulevard to the Yakima Convention Center.

The Lower Valley Peace March in Toppenish starts at 10:30 Monday morning. That march goes from The Old Toppenish Market Place on West First Avenue to Toppenish Middle School on Goldendale Avenue.

Both marches will be followed by presentations focusing on the work of Dr. King.

As part of President Obama's national call to service, "United We Stand," people across the country will take time to volunteer in their communities on Monday.

The MLK day of service calls for people from all walks of life, to work together for a "day on, not a day off".

Monday afternoon at 2:00 the Southeast Yakima Community Center will hold an open soup kitchen for the community.
