WALLA WALLA, WA - The Walla Walla County Sheriff's Office says two men who escaped from the North Idaho Correctional Institute over the weekend are now back in custody.
Around 8 A.M. Monday, someone called deputies saying she was at the Zip-Zone Market along South 9th Street in Walla Walla when she saw two men in a car with Idaho license plates. When deputies arrived, the vehicle was already gone.
Investigators later caught up with the car along Highway 12 in the Lowden area. When law enforcement tried to pull them over, the driver tried to get away but eventually went down a dead-end end street.
Deputies found escapees Ridge Scott Dains, 21, and Caleb Joe Thomas, 20, inside the car and arrested them. Investigators say the car was stolen and inside it they also found a loaded .45 caliber pistol and an SKS Assault Rifle.
The Idaho Department of Correction reported the two men had escaped Saturday morning.
The criminal record for Thomas includes first degree arson and grand theft. The record for Dains includes a burglary conviction.
Deputies say both men will now return to Idaho County where they could face charges related to their escape.
