RICHLAND, WA - A Richland man is facing multiple charges after a stand off with law enforcement.
Officers say on Friday around 11 p.m. they responded to a home along the 700 block of Wright Street. The reporting party told police that Derek Foreman, 35, was in the home and threatening to shoot a woman who was also inside. Two other adults and two children, ages three and five, were also in the home.
Officers made multiple attempts to contact anyone inside the home. Finally the woman, who Foreman was threatening to kill, ran from the front door. She said Foreman released her because he thought the officers would leave. She told police Foreman was holding the others inside against their will.
The Tri-City Regional SWAT team arrived and eventually all people inside were able to leave safely. The stand off ended around 3:30 a.m.
Officers arrested Foreman and booked him into the Benton County Jail. The incident is under investigation.
