NARRATIVE OF INCIDENT:

Over the last two weeks the unincorporated area of east Kennewick experienced a significant increase in crime; specifically residential burglary, vehicle prowls and thefts. In addition to this the In-Step Baptist Church, located at 201512 E. Finley Road, was burglarized on January 14th. The church was heavily vandalized and numerous items were stolen, to include a number of electric guitars.

On January 19th at approximately 3:00am, three male suspects were contacted by Benton County Sheriff's Deputies and subsequently arrested in connection with the recent crime spree. Further investigation led to the apprehension of two more male suspects. Three search warrants were executed and a large quantity of stolen property was recovered. The Kennewick Police Department assisted and determined the same suspects were responsible for a string of vehicle prowls in their city.

Following the arrest of all the suspects in this case, the Benton County Sheriff's Office has been able to clear 8 burglaries and 25 vehicle prowl / thefts. It is believed that the suspects are responsible for a far greater number of crimes in the area.

The investigation is still underway and attempts are being made to identify the owners of all the stolen property, which has been recovered. The Benton County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's assistance by calling our office if they are the victim of an unreported property crime, in the east Kennewick area, within the last three weeks.

The suspects arrested were all males; one 18 year old and four 16 year olds. The adult suspect has been identified as Tristan D. Landry. All live in the area of the crime spree. The suspects were booked into the Benton County Jail or the Benton-Franklin Juvenile Detention Facility for Burglary, Theft of a Firearm and 25 counts of Theft from a Vehicle.
