SPOKANE, Wash. – Despite allowing an early goal to the Warriors, goalie Eric Williams put forth one of his most impressive performances of the season as he stopped 24 of 25 shots – including all 15 in the second and third periods – in the Spokane Chiefs 3-1 victory over Moose Jaw on Saturday night.

Just over 6 minutes into the second period, Riley Whittingham – after a great feed from Hudson Elynuik – slapped the puck hard off Warriors’ goaltender Justin Poulic’s glove and into the back of the net to knot the game up at 1. Just 8 minutes later, Keanu Yamamoto scored his first game-winning goal of the season; his fourth goal overall. Jason Fram was credited with his 50th-career assist on Yamamoto’s goal. Jeremy McIntosh also collected an assist on the same goal.

Mitch Holmberg, who was scoreless in his past four games, added an empty-net goal at the end of the game for the final margin. Holmberg now has 43 goals on the season and leads the WHL with 85 points.

Spokane was whistled for a game-high seven penalties leading to six Moose Jaw power plays, including three in the second. But the Chiefs’ penalty kill unit held strong and went a perfect 6-for-6 on the night. Spokane’s own power play, which has fallen to fourth in the league, was 0-for-3.

Spokane returns to the Arena tomorrow night, Saturday, January 25th, for Washington Army National Guard Buck Night & CheerStix Giveaway as the Chiefs will host rival Tri-City Americans. The Chiefs will wear special military-themed jerseys which will be auctioned off on the main concourse. Tomorrow will also mark the first time Jackson Playfair returns to the Arena since being swapped for Marcus Messier at January’s trade deadline.

Tickets for all Chiefs home games are available in-person at the Chiefs' Ticket Office, over the phone at (509) 535-PUCK, via TicketsWest outlets and online at www.ticketswest.com.
