DAYTON, WA - A 14-year-old boy, identified as Hunter Conner on the Columbia High School ASB Facebook page, died on Saturday after a snowboarding accident at Ski Bluewood near Dayton. The page states that Conner was an eighth grader at Columbia Burbank Middle School.

Ski Bluewood Director of Business Operations, Brandy Ream, said ski patrol was called at 12:15 p.m. on reports of an injured snowboarder. When they arrived to the top of Country Road (a beginners run) the boy was conscious and speaking. He told them he had caught an edge and fallen face-forward. According to the ski patrol he was not wearing a helmet.

Ream said an ambulance from Columbia County and a Life Flight helicopter were called but the helicopter was not able to make it because of weather conditions.

Ski patrol continued treatment until the ambulance arrived at 1:45 p.m. Ream said the boy was still conscious at that point.

NBC Right Now contacted Columbia County Health System to find out what happened after but were told to call back on Monday. As of Sunday afternoon, the hospital was "in conference" going over the events of the day.
