Pinland Empire: How To Curl

Posted: Updated:
SPOKANE, Wash. -

KHQ.COM - If you would like to get into curling, the Lilac City Curling Club has everything you would need to get started. Rick McCrickard is one of the people who started the club two years ago. Spokane used to have a Curling Club many years ago, so Rick will tell you they just brought it back. In fact, all of the stones they use are from their predecessors.

The group meets every Sunday, from 6-10 p.m. “It’s just a nice fun recreational curling club. We are just out here having a really good time,” McCrickard said. The group expects the Olympics to drum up a lot of interest in curling here in Spokane.

Rick told us anyone is invited to come learn how to curl. Just come by the Riverfront Ice Palace on Sunday night and Rick will teach you how to throw and broom. “Come on down on a Sunday night. Ask any questions, we will get you on the ice, throw a stone or two. We are here mostly to get the sport to grow,” McCrickard said.
