KENNEWICK, WA - Potato growers, sellers, and producers from the Pacific Northwest, Midwest, and Southwest are in Kennewick this week. They're giving you the chance to learn about one of our area's biggest industries.
Dozens of agricultural companies are running more than 100 booths at the Annual Potato Conference.
They're showing off the industry's latest technology, biggest equipment, and tastiest new potatoes on the market.
Farmers like Preston Stanley, the manager of the Colorado Certified Potato Growers Association, says the event is also a huge opportunity to expand their businesses.
"We have a very good market up here," Stanley says, "and your growers buy a lot of our seed potatoes, and so with that, why, it's very profitable."
The conference is going on at the Three Rivers Convention Center Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Organizers say for just $5, anyone can stop by and learn about the Washington state industry that produces 9,000,000,000 pounds of potatoes every year.
