I've lost my voice... and maybe my sanity along with it. It's been a crazy last 48 hours for me and Josh Godfrey. We're getting no sleep in the city that never sleeps... and I'm not complaining one bit.

It started Thursday morning with a trip to the Empire State Building. It's odd rolling up to this towering behemoth in a taxi cab. You think you're in front of a small office building when you're standing underneath it. Then it just keeps growing and growing and growing like a layered wedding cake. A man named Jean Yves was our tour guide, whisking us to the 86th floor. The ESB is so tall -- how tall is it? -- that snow on the observation deck can turn into rain by the time it reaches the ground floor. As if we weren't up high enough in the clouds already, Jean Yves offered us a private tour of the 103rd floor. Um, yes please.

Tom Cruise supposedly sat on the ledge nonchalantly when he was taken to floor 103. Photographer Josh Godfrey and I were perfectly content to grip the rail and got a breathtaking 360 degree view of New York City. It's indescribable looking down, not up, on a city full of skyscrapers. This was definitely a bucket list moment.

Later that evening, we got our first New York underground experience. We took a subway underneath the Hudson River to New Jersey, and caught a connecting train into Newport. Our destination: the Seahawks team hotel, which is under strict security. But we had zero interest in the current Seahawks (at least not at this moment). Our interview was with former Seahawk quarterback Dave Kreig. What a guy! If you've ever met him, you know he's the most down to earth guy. Speaking of which, it was time to go back to subterranean earth for our return trip to New York.

If Thursday took us to soaring heights at the Empire State Building and the sinking depths of the Hudson, Friday gave us a taste of Little Italy. We went to Lombardi's, the first pizzaria in the United States. This pizza is simply the best I've ever had. It forever ends the debate between deep dish Chicago pizza and thin crust New York. Not even close.

That's it for now. Josh and I goofed off today at Times Square and called it work. We hope you enjoy it.
