NBCRightNow.com - Local colleges and universities would like to remind students to fill out their financial aid forms ahead of the priority deadline.
This is the second year with a new financial aid structure. In the past, the deadline determined priority. This year all the funds will be awarded only to students that meet the deadline.
This year's deadline to apply for financial aid is February 15th.
"But by Monday, the priority deadline of February 15th, they're maximizing the amount of free money that they're eligible for. And so some students, but not meeting the priority deadline of February 15th, they are missing out on ten thousand dollars of free money," explained WSU Tri-Cities Financial Aid Coordinator Jordyn Wright.
CBC, YVCC and WSU Tri-Cities are holding free workshops to help prospective students and their parents fill out the financial aid forms. Help will be available in English and Spanish.
