The only city in our region to not pass a marijuana moratorium is Walla Walla.
WALLA WALLA, WA - The only city in our region to not pass a marijuana moratorium is Walla Walla. A city well-known for wine may now be known for weed.
The city council voted four to three against the moratorium last week. The Washington State Liquor Control Board received up to ten applications for retail licenses. However, only two licenses will be handed out in the city and four total, county-wide.
"Walla Walla is smart because they're going to make money. The city's going to make money, everybody's going to make money. There is so much money. Oh my god. Are you kidding me? Colorado ran out of weed," said Larry Whittle who agrees with the city council's decision.
"I don't think it should be based on the income from being sold. I think we should be more concerned with the affects that it's going to have on our children and our community. Walla Walla has built a reputation on having a great community," said Tim Applebee who disagrees with the decision.
Walla Walla's assistant city attorney said so far they have not had anyone approach them about legal action against pot sales in the city.
