YAKIMA, WA - The Yakima County Auditor's Office on Tuesday launched a pilot program for veterans.

With help from a national company, the auditor's office established a website where veterans can sign up for the free honors program to get discounts on goods and services.

"Instead of paying full price to come in, they have a reduced admission, discounts in the gift shop and things like that," said John Baule, the director at the Yakima Valley Museum.

Once they're signed up veterans will get a free ID card they can use at participating businesses.

"This way a person can prove that he's a veteran without having to carry bulky papers or join any organizations," said veteran Howard Campbell.

The website is already up and running for vets to register or you can do it at the Yakima County Auditor's Office.
