KENNEWICK, WA - There's still time to sign up for a free haircut and help the Tri-Cities Red Cross replenish its blood supply.
The students at Victoria's Academy of Cosmetology Thursday hold one of the largest blood drives in the Tri-Cities.
Kymberly Smith, one of the academy's instructors, says the students expect to give more than 50 free cuts during the blood drive.
"We're a student body, and like every school we try to teach the students to give back to the community," Smith says. "The business we're in here is a consumer service type business so we really believe in giving back."
Smith says the academy will welcome drop-in blood donors. Donors need to show identification. Parents can also give blood and give their free haircut to their kids.
The blood drive goes from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday. The Red Cross will park its donor trailer outside the school. To make an appointment or for more information call 586-9979.
Victoria's is located in downtown Kennewick at 23 West First Avenue, at the corner of First Avenue and Auburn Street.
The cosmetology students are dedicating the blood drive to Vera Calbert, the mother of Victoria Kile. Calbert died earlier this year.
