HERMISTON, OR - Right now there are more questions than answers in the case of a deadly shooting in Hermiston on Tuesday.

One man is dead after he was shot somewhere along Sunshine Lane. That's a more rural part of Hermiston.

The Umatilla County Sheriff's Office said the deadly shooting happened around 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hermiston Police Chief said it is definitely not gang-related.

Neighbors can't believe such violence was right in their backyard.

"I'm shocked. I really am. Because I never thought it would happen here," Jana Kenshol said she didn't hear or see anything even though she was home all day.

The man who was shot was taken by a private party to Shepherd Medical Center where he later died of his injuries.

The District Attorney's office is investigating this and NBC Right Now will bring you the latest as soon as we learn more.
