For the Coccoro, Zeus Turn and Zeus 360 Child Restraint Systems

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Feb. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --- Combi USA, Inc., announced today that it is conducting a safety recall on the Coccoro Model 8220 manufactured between January 2009 - December 2012, Zeus Turn Model 8815 manufactured between July 2007 - March 2009 and Zeus 360 Model 8836 manufactured between February 2009 - May 2012.

The webbing used on the harness of the affected child restraints has an embedded plastic button that keeps the buckle tongues from sliding into the recesses of the restraint.  The webbing with the embedded plastic button does not meet the minimum breaking strength in accordance with Federal Motor Vehicle Standard No. 213. The embedded plastic button affects the overall strength of the seat belt assembly, and in turn could potentially affect the overall performance of the child restraint to keep your child adequately secured in the event of a crash.

Combi has received no reports of accidents or injuries.  No other car restraint models are affected.

To address this issue, Combi is providing a free remedy kit to registered owners.  All registered owners of the affected Coccoro, Zeus Turn and Zeus 360 should register for the free remedy kit online at www.CombiUSA.com/Safety-Notifications/Recall-Information.aspx or call our recall information line at 1-844-697-1690.  These kits will be available on or before February 6, 2014.  This kit contains harness webbing without the embedded plastic button.  Detailed instructions for this remedy will be included with the kit and are also available online at www.CombiUSA.com/Safety-Notifications/Recall-Information.aspx.  This repair will take less than 30 minutes to complete.

Consumers are encouraged to continue use of the Coccoro, Zeus Turn and Zeus 360 child restraints while awaiting the remedy kit.  These child restraints, when tested as a complete child restraint system, do fully comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Standard 213.

Owners of the Coccoro, Zeus Turn, Zeus 360 child restraint that have not registered their product should contact the Combi recall  information line, toll free at 1-844-697-1690 or register their product online at www.combiusa.com.
