Yakima Copes With Yet Another Snow Storm

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, WA. -- It snowed and then it snowed some more Saturday night. It snowed so much you could even ski in the streets.

"It's free fun," Erik Forssen said. "(You have to) watch out for the cars."

Erik Forssen took out his cross country skis to get around. And man he could move fast!

"Sometimes you go up to the mountains but if it's right here, why drive?" Forssen said.

People in Yakima are digging themselves out Sunday. One neighborhood had just under 11 inches of snow!

Those of us without skis were left shoveling. The Valezquez household made the chore a family affair.

The snow inspired some people to help their neighbors as well. T. J. Winters and his fiancee Kristin turned into a couple good Samaritans and drove around town to help people with their shoveling.

"I couldn't wait to get up and go out it's so fun," Kristin said. "And to help people? That's the best."

They hopped in their vintage Jeep decked out with a snow plow and dug out anyone who needed help.

"This is awesome," one woman said. "This is a dangerous driveway."

We all have our ways of coping with the snow and it's definitely on full display Sunday.
