    SPOKANE, Wash. Spokane Police officers are looking for a gold-colored SUV that hit and killed a man Sunday night near the Mission Street Bridge. Police responded to Mission and South Riverton at about 8:30pm.

UPDATE: Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for anyone providing information leading to an arrest in this incident. Persons with information should call the Crime Stoppers Tip Line at 1-800-222-TIPS, or should forward the tip via the Internet website www.crimestoppersinlandnorthwest.org. Tipsters do not have to give their name to collect the cash reward. Crime Stoppers of the Inland Northwest is a civilian organization that promotes public safety by paying cash rewards for information that solves crimes. It is not affiliated with law enforcement.

Spokane Police are still searching for the driver involved in a deadly hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of a man trying to cross a busy street Sunday night.

The crash happened just before 9 p.m. at Mission & Riverton – an area not designed for pedestrians. Police say the man was trying to cross Mission but was hit by a gold or tan colored SUV heading eastbound. The driver never stopped.

The impact sent the man into the westbound lanes where police say two additional cars hit him; however, they say it’s likely the second westbound car didn’t realize there was a person in the street given the darkness and snowy conditions.

The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office performed an autopsy on the man Monday, but have yet to identify him, saying his next-of-kin have been hard to reach.

The intersection is clearly marked with signs telling pedestrians not to cross Mission at that intersection. The nearest crosswalk is a few blocks away.

At a press conference Monday, Spokane Police Capt. Brad Arleth said they would be looking into several factors including speed, weather, toxicology and whether surveillance video of the intersection exists. Police are also hoping to hear from additional witnesses who may have been in the area at the time of the crash, and say it’s likely the car(s) involved are now damaged.

A Monroe police affidavit says 29-year-old Evelyn Washington was arrested on burglary and property damage charges. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that a responding officer found "a full tub of water and a plate of food along with half eaten Cheetos belonging to the victim on the toilet next to the tub."
