Suspect Arrested in Deadly Hermiston Shooting

UPDATE/PENDLETON, OR - Umatilla County authorities say a suspect has been arrested in the killing of a 25-year-old man last week near Hermiston.

According to Umatilla County Detectives, Timothy Kelly,22, of Irrigon was captured Monday in The Dalles and booked at the Umatilla County Jail on a murder charge.

Sheriff Terry Rowan said he's accused of shooting Daniel Dechand February 4th while they were in an SUV outside Hermiston. Dechand died at the hospital in Hermiston.

HERMISTON, OR - The Umatilla County Sheriff's Office says deputies now know who they're looking for after a deadly shooting near Hermiston.

Deputies say 22-year-old Timothy Allen Kelly of Irrigon shot and killed 25-year-old Daniel Dechand on Tuesday.

Deputies say Dechand and 51-year-old David Wayne Newton picked up Kelly while he was walking along West Highland Avenue in a 1992 Chevrolet Blazer.

Deputies say the three men drove through Hermiston and out to Sunshine Lane, where Kelly shot Dechand and then ran off. Deputies say Newton drove Dechand to the hospital where he later died.

The sheriff's office says it still has a lot of evidence to go through and people to talk to.
