YAKIMA, WA - Two teenagers are booked in the Yakima County Jail for an armed robbery early Tuesday morning.
According to Yakima Police, just before 6:00 Tuesday morning, officers responded to Grizzly Espresso at 3600 Fruitvale Boulevard for a reported armed robbery after a 22-year-old barista called 911.
Police say she was alone when one of the teenagers walked up to the drive-up window, mumbled something to her, and flashed a small silver handgun. The suspect then opened the window fully and crawled inside as the barista escaped through the drive-up window on the opposite side. While she was escaping, she heard two gunshots and then was approached by the second teenager who escorted her back to the business and demanded money.
After taking money from the till, personal items from the barista's purse, and her car keys the two teens drove away in the woman's car.
A patrol officer found the stolen car near 16th Avenue and Englewood. A high speed chase ended when one of the teens lost control of the car and crashed at 23rd Avenue and Englewood. After a short chase on-foot, officers arrested both teens.
The 19-year-old and the 18-year-old were booked on charges of 1st Degree Robbery, 1st Degree Assault, Kidnapping, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Attempt to Elude.
