Driver To Deputy In Spokane Valley: 'I'm Drunk'

Posted: Updated:
SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. - A drunk driver was arrested early Tuesday morning after hitting a marked Sheriff's car in Spokane Valley.

Deputy Craig Chamberlin said in a press release that Spokane Valley Sheriff's Deputy J. Spitzer was helping another deputy on a burglary call near the 300 block of N. Herald Road. While assisting on the burglary call, Deputy Spitzer saw a black Subaru traveling northbound on Herald before the Subaru struck the back of his patrol car, then spun around and hit the front quarter panel.

Deputy Spitzer went to check on the driver of the Subaru who was identified as 30-year-old Justin Yochum. Chamberlin said Yochum looked at Deputy Spitzer and simply said, "I'm drunk."

The Washington State Patrol was called in to arrest Yochum for DUI and he was booked into jail.
