Following an article published by The Spectrum, ArtSchools.com, a directory of art colleges, discusses how artists are pushing for music education in schools.

ArtSchools.com, the leading directory of art colleges, discusses how artists are encouraging schools to teach students more about music and other forms of art.
In a February 3rd article posted on The Spectrum titled, Artists Encourage Music Education in Schools, members of the Utah Opera are giving presentations in schools to help promote arts education in the classroom. The musicians hope to introduce the arts to students in ways they have never experienced before.
The article says that five members of the Utah Opera are a part of a program that helps educate school students of the different areas of the arts. The program, funded by the Utah State Legislature, is designed to help children build character and learn how to express their feelings. The article says the artists involved in the program are from all different disciplines and want children to see how valuable the arts can be.
Andrew Girard, a representative for ArtSchools.com, a directory of art colleges, says that this arts program should be a model for schools around the country. Education of the arts is key in the success of children. The arts offer a way for children to express themselves that is hard to do otherwise, says Girard. Programs like this offer a way for new, blossoming artists to see the value of their craft. These programs introduce children to new forms of music and art that they would probably have otherwise seen.
Girard also says art education can help people become more accepting of other cultures. By exposing children to the arts at a young age, we, as a society, can become more receptive to other cultures and histories. The arts offer a way of expressing new ideas and views. Its an essential portion of education that should not be excluded from any curriculum.
