With only a few hours left until Valentine's Day, many local businesses are seeing a steady stream of customers.
YAKIMA, WA - With only a few hours left until Valentine's Day, many local businesses are seeing a steady stream of customers.
Local flower shops in the region said compared to Mother's Day, Valentine's Day is their busiest time of the year.
They said compared to an average week, they see sales go up between 50 and 60-percent in the few days before the holiday.
One local flower shop in Yakima said by shopping local, you might pay a little bit more, but it's all worth it.
"Whether it's a flower or a restaurant or whatever kind of business it is, the money stays local. We employ local people, our money grows our business and in turn then we can shop in other small stores and help to support them also," said Sue Goertler from Findery Floral and Gifts.
Local businesses also said shopping local gives a more personal customer service experience than big-box stores.
They will go the extra mile to make sure you give your sweetheart something special.
