Milton-Freewater to Allow Non-Police Workers to Carry Guns
MILTON-FREEWATER, OR - Milton-Freewater City Council members have voted to allow city workers who don't have police powers to carry guns to work.
Council members on Monday approved the measure on a 4-1 vote. The city is now one of several local jurisdictions across the nation that are allowing workers with the proper permits to be armed at work.
Council member Sam Hopkins-Hubbard says in a small town with a small police force, it makes sense for workers to be prepared for whatever might happen.
But Council Member Ed Chesnut says some residents are nervous about the idea.
