YAKIMA, WA - The City of Yakima is working to hire two more Code Compliance Officers.

Joe Caruso, Code Administration Manager, said they're currently interviewing five candidates.

The city said the new hires are a direct result of Yakima's Citizen Survey. People complained about Yakima's appearance, saying they want to see the city cleaned up.

"We will be able to instead of being complaint driven, we will be able to sweep certain areas and be proactive to get to a lot of things so we're not waiting for phone calls," said Caruso.

The city said they hope to have the first code compliance officer on board by the beginning of next month. They'll hire the second officer closer to spring.
