BENTON CITY, WA - Benton City is home to the region's only Cougar Cafe. It touts all things crimson and gray and even a cougar statue.

Jimmie Harris played football for WSU a long time ago. He always wanted to open a cougar store, so he did. It doubles as a Conoco gas station, the Desert Food Mart.

Harris died back in 2001 but his stepdaughter runs it now and has kept the decor the same. She tells us the back story of the life-size cougar.

"He actually saw the cougar at an airport and I'm not sure exactly where he was but he had to have one. So, he had one shipped here and he built the stand and put it on it. It was in the middle of the store right when you walked in. It was a real eye catcher but we ran out of space," said Vickie Smith, the current owner and manager.

She plans to move the cougar to the top of the fountain on the cafe's patio.
