RICHLAND, WA - NBC Right Now was on the scene of a rollover incident Saturday morning.
A semi truck driver hauling about 50,000 pounds of potatoes was taking the ramp from 240 eastbound in Richland towards Pasco heading to182. The driver admits he was taking the corner a little fast and the back of the load started to tilt, ultimately tipping over. State patrol officers say they see these incidents on the ramps a lot.
"I believe 100% of them would be preventable or avoidable if you just slowed down and took your time. Obey the posted speed limits and just slow down," said Andre Martinez, a WA State Patrol officer.
Martinez has seen many of these incidents. He says the clean up sometimes take hours and can cost thousands in repairs. The driver in this case was uninjured.
