DUBLIN, Feb. 20, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Dr. Donald E. Ross, President of the Irish American University (www.iamu.edu), is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Marsha Glines as the Dean of the College of Academic Enhancement and Transition. Dr. Glines has spent the past 25 years at IAU's founder and sister institution, Lynn University of Boca Raton, Florida developing critical learning skills and capacities. Her new role at IAU will involve developing and establishing programs to prepare and coach college students in order to achieve the most effective transition from high school. In her new position, Dr. Glines will focus initially on developing a one-year Academic Foundation curriculum for freshmen which will offer  a complete range of skills and critical thinking classes in addition to general education courses and a European study tour. This new program will commence in September 2014.

Dr. Marsha Glines has a national reputation in teaching and learning theory, special education, non-traditional program design and higher education curriculum development. In 2012 in New York City, Dr. Glines was presented with the Lewis Hines Award by the National Labor Board Committee in recognition of her outstanding service on behalf of children and youth. In February 2013, she was also presented with the Lynn University Transition Champion Award. Dr. Glines has had a distinguished career in education. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in speech education at Emerson College in Boston and a Master's in Education with a special education certification from Lesley College Graduate School and the Commonwealth of  Massacuhsetts.  Dr. Glines continued her studies in education as a special studies student at Harvard University and she later received her Ph.D. in higher education administration from Union Institute and University. Dr. Glines has been a frequent speaker and lecturer at numerous commencement ceremonies, professional development and in-service events and she has conducted teacher training workshops on early intervention strategies, classroom management and addressing learning differences throughout the United States and abroad.

Irish American University is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and is licensed as an institution of higher education in the Republic of Ireland and the State of Delaware and offers an outstanding post-secondary education at the bachelor's and master's degree levels in liberal arts, performing arts, creative writing, international business, accounting and finance, and hospitality and event management.
