KENNEWICK, WA - You had the chance to stair climb against a firefighter at both Gold's Gym locations in the Tri-Cities on Thursday night.

It was $20 to try it out and the money raised will go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The Kennewick Fire Department has a donation page here.

You could even do it in full firefighter gear.

Gold's Gym hosted the event in honor of Mike Hoard. He's a trainer at Gold's Gym and is battling leukemia right now.

"On a financial level, last year we raised about $1.2 million for cancer research and it's amazing how in a single event, firefighters can come together and raise that much money for research," said Kennewick Firefighter Andy Streibeck.

The goal? To beat a 12 minute, 7 second 69 flight climb.

The person with the fastest time earned a three month membership to the gym.
