LAKEVIEW, OR - Oregon State Police say a traffic stop turned into a major drug bust when troopers found more than 100 pounds of marijuana inside a rented SUV.

Police arrested 31-year-old Paul William Houfek of Portland on Thursday afternoon after troopers say they pulled him over for speeding eastbound on Highway 140W near Lakeview.

Troopers say drug dogs found 117 lbs of marijuana in 94 individually sealed packages, all inside a large gun safe in the back of the rented Ford Explorer with Idaho plates.

Police say the marijuana has a street value of about $300,000.

Troopers booked Houfek into the Lake County Jail for unlawful possession, manufacturing, and distribution of a controlled substance. The OSP Drug Enforcement Section is continuing the investigation.
