YAKIMA, WA - 2013 was a record year for Washington exports.

The Evergreen State sent nearly $82 billion worth of products to international markets. And Washington's fruit crops, much of which comes from the Yakima Valley, contributed more than one billion dollars in exports.

"Its amazing if you travel and you go to India," Mark Powers of the Northwest Horticultural Council said. "You go to a lot of these countries, people know Washington apples, Northwest cherries, USA pears."

Apples, the biggest fruit export for the Yakima Valley, grew the most, about 10 percent from 2011 to 2012.
