KENNEWICK, WA - If you're still working on your new year's resolution to lose weight, one local woman has some words of wisdom for you - smash that scale.

NBC Right Now first told you about Rae Smith last July when she set out to walk across America in order to raise money and awareness for eating disorders. Unfortunately, just a few days into her journey, Rae had to stop after she got a foot infection.

Now, she's back in the Tri-Cities for a "Grand Scale Smashing Party." Rae believes it's time to overcome what the scale says, "if you have a personal goal to run a 5K or to have more energy to play with your kids all day long, getting on the scale and the number it reads to you isn't going to tell you when you can achieve those goals."

You can smash some scales Tuesday at 6PM at the Kennewick Kiwanis on Columbia Park Trail.

You will have to bring your own scale and hammer, but Southridge High School has donated safety glasses for everyone that attends.

Rae will also be collecting donations, which will go toward the Eating Disorder Recovery Support group to help form a scholarship for someone who needs treatment.

For more details on the event, you can check out the Facebook page Rae Across America Smith.

If you can't attend, but still want to donate, you can click here.
