Oregon Transportation Department officials say extreme fog and hazardous driving conditions including black ice have prompted them to close a long stretch of Interstate 84 in northeast Oregon.

UPDATE: PENDLETON, OR - The Oregon Department of Transportation has reopened a portion of Interstate 84 in northeast Oregon.

Crews reopened I-84 between Pendleton and La Grande around 2:15am Thursday.

Parts of the interstate have been closed off and on over the last three days because of dangerous driving conditions.

Oregon Transportation Department officials say extreme fog and hazardous driving conditions including black ice have prompted them to close a long stretch of Interstate 84 in northeast Oregon.

ODOT says I-84 is closed eastbound at Exit 216 (6 miles east of Pendleton) to La Grande at Exit 265.  The westbound lanes are closed at MP 375 (west of Ontario) to MP 216 ( east of Pendleton). Some crashes and disabled vehicles have been reported.
    
Transportation spokesman Tom Strandberg says multiple crashes were reported in the area Monday night.  He says no serious accidents have been reported Tuesday night.
