YAKIMA, WA - Investigators are looking for whoever started a fire in Yakima early Thursday morning.

Firefighters in Yakima said arson is the cause of a fire that ripped through an abandoned building on the 200-block of South Naches Avenue.

Firefighters responded to a call of a structure fire around 4:00 in the morning on the corner of South Naches Avenue and East Walnut Street.

When they arrived, crews saw the building fully engulfed in flames.

The building is a house that was converted into a duplex, and was already abandoned and boarded up after a fire ripped through it in October.

Firefighters also said that fire was caused by arson.

Crews said because there was previous fire damage, it made it difficult and unsafe to battle the flames from inside the building.

They also said some of the insulation in the house was made of sawdust which made it even more difficult to fight the fire.

The next step is to find out what the city's Code Enforcement Department will do with the building now that it is completely damaged, and whether or not it is unsafe to still be standing in the community.
