WALLA WALLA, WA - Firefighters in Walla Walla are investigating a fire at an antique store early Thursday morning.
Firefighters say around 1:30am, a Walla Walla Police Officer reported the flames coming from the old Empire Antiques building at 1975 Walla Walla Avenue.
Crews knocked down the fire with tank water while the ambulance crew ventilated the building. Firefighters say they quickly contained the fire to a small area, but the smoke damaged much of the building and train car.
Walla Walla Police say the initial investigations seem to show the fire may be the result of arson. Police say the fire may have started just inside the door, so the incident is also being investigated as a break-in.
Police say Empire Antiques has also been burglarized in the past.
