Judge Sets Pasco Murder Trial for July

Posted: Updated:

PASCO, WA-  A Pasco man will go on trial this summer for first degree murder.

Police arrested Guadalupe Montejano, 47, in January after officers found the body of Jamie Acevedo, 46, in his apartment. Detectives say Montejano cut the woman's throat and then hid her body in a closet beneath a sleeping bag.

He remains in jail on $500,000 bond.

Franklin County Superior Court Judge Carrie Runge set his trial for July.

Montejano's public defender, Shelly Ajax, at one time represented Acevedo in a legal matter. During a hearing in February, Ajax told Judge Runge she didn't see any potential conflict of interest. Montejano told Runge he had no objection to Ajax staying on as counsel.
