Hermiston Police Arrest Woman While Arresting Her Teenage Son

HERMISTON, OR - Hermiston Police say while arresting a teenager, officers had to arrest his mother as well.

Police say early Thursday morning, a 17-year-old boy fired a gun near Beech and McNary Avenue and damaged an empty, parked, Ford F150 pickup.

Officers say they found the teenager, drunk, inside a home on the 200 block of E. Beech Avenue. Police arrested him for unlawful use of a weapon, criminal mischief in the first degree, and minor in possession of alcohol.

"This is yet another example of the recklessness that can take place when a minor consumes alcohol," said Police Chief Jason Edmiston. "This is the 7th time we have charged this youth with minor in possession of alcohol going back to 2010."

While officers were booking the teenager into the juvenile detention facility in Pendleton, police say they arrested his mother, 35-year-old Olga G. Espain, for interfering with a police officer.

Police took her to the Hermiston Police Department and issued her a citation to appear in court.
