KENNEWICK, WA - The first Kennewick High School building was built in 1911. A far cry (or roar, rather) from what it is today.

We met up with Wes Door whose family history of Lion alums dates back to the first graduating class in 1907. Door's Aunt Nema graduated in the first class of just a handful of students.

Door graduated in 1943 with a senior class of 43 people. One thing he remembers is the long bus ride. Even back then it was a solid half hour trip.

"Now I could also walk that in 30 minutes. The difference is the bus made a big round, picked up a lot of people but we could actually, my brother and I, start walking and if we were there at the right time, somebody would probably pick us up and drive us to school," said Door.

Door went to school in the original building but the new one was opened in the 50's. For a year, it went by a different name before changing back to Kennewick High School which is what we all know it as today.

The Kennewick School District also takes part in Throwback Thursday on their Facebook page if you'd like to see more 'old school' stuff.
