Marijuana Business Means Big Business in Washington State

Posted: Updated: - Talk about making some green - recreational marijuana sales mean big business for the Evergreen State.

Washington and Colorado blazed a new trail for other states when it comes to who can grow, sell and buy weed. It's also changing the face of drug sales and the state economy as we know it.

It's not exactly corn or wheat, but weed is now a cash crop that generates a staggering amount of money in the U.S. each year. The latest estimate - $40 billion.

The feds still consider marijuana to be illegal, but medical marijuana is permitted in 20 states and the District of Columbia. For the first time, a Gallup poll found 58 percent of Americans think the drug should be legalized everywhere.

That's why entrepreneurs across Washington state are hoping to get in on the ground floor, to start up their marijuana businesses now and build them as the drug becomes more accepted across the U.S.
