YAKIMA, WA - A local educator is getting some serious recognition today in Yakima.

Donna Kelly is a guidance specialist at Stanton Academy and was selected as the ESD 105 Regional Classified School Employee of the year.

This award recognizes her excellent service to Stanton like improving student achievement, leadership, and overall outstanding work performance for the school's community.

Kelly said the win was a surprise, and it is all for the students.

"This award reflects Stanton Academy and the collaboration that our staff does here, the way we work together to help students be successful and move towards graduating and secondary education," Kelly said.

She is now one of nine candidates from Washington State who is up for the title of the 2014 Washington State Classified School Employee of the year.

That award will be announced during a special reception in Olympia in April.
