SPOKANE, Wash. – Despite being outshot 30-22 by Spokane, Portland extending their winning streak to 21 straight games as the Winterhawks edged the Chiefs by a score of 2-0 on Friday night at the Spokane Arena in front of 10,023 fans.

The Chiefs have lost all eight games to the Winterhawks this season, and have been shut out by a total score of 13-0 in the last three meetings. Spokane doesn’t face Portland again this regular season.

Spokane's shot advantage was apparent in the first period (14-7) as the Chiefs kept the pressure on Portland netminder Corbin Boes. Boes stopped all 30 shots fired in his direction. Spokane goal keeper Eric Williams stopped 20 of 22 shots on goal.

Portland's Alex Schoenborn and De Leo scored the goals for the Winterhawks in the first and second periods, respectively. Neither team was able to notch a goal in the game's final period. Nicolas Petan, who is second in the WHL in scoring behind Mitch Holmberg, did not record a point to overtake the points lead.

Only six total penalties were called, with half of them coming in the third period. Both Spokane and Portland finished 0 for 3 with the one-man advantage on the ice.

With just three home games remaining this season, the Chiefs will face rival Tri-City Americans tomorrow, Saturday, March 1st, for Red Lion River Inn Buck Night and CheerStix Giveaway. It will be the 10th of 12 meetings between the rivals this season. The last time the two met, Spokane won by an overwhelming score of 7-0.

Tickets for Saturday night and all Chiefs home games are available in-person at the Chiefs' Ticket Office, over the phone at (509) 535-PUCK, via TicketsWest outlets and online at www.ticketswest.com.
