SPOKANE, Wash. – Tri-City netminder Eric Comrie reminded the Chiefs why he’s considered a top goalie in the Western Hockey League as he stopped all 34 shots fired in his direction, helping the Americans shut out Spokane 3-0 on Saturday night on Red Lion River Inn Buck Night and CheerStix Giveaway.

Comrie, who allowed six goals the last time the Americans came to Spokane on February 15th, stayed busy as the Chiefs outshot Tri-City 34-29. Spokane had plenty of opportunities, but Comrie was able to turn away each shot. The Chiefs best opportunity came near the end of the game, as Marcus Messier left the puck in the crease for Keanu Yamamoto, but Yamamoto was unable to get to the puck – and open net – in time.

Each team had five power play opportunities, but it was Tri-City who was the only one to take full advantage. The Americans first goal was scored on the power play from Parker Bowles. Former Spokane Chief Jackson Playfair was credited with an assist on the play.

Mitch Holmberg still leads the WHL with 107 total points, just one point above Portland’s Nicolas Petan. Holmberg also sits four goals shy of Spokane’s all-time goal scorer with 142 career goals.

The Chiefs will head on a four-game road trip before returning for the season’s final two home games. Spokane will play host to the Everett Silvertips on Wednesday, March 12th, for the season’s final TicketsWest Player Magnet Giveaway. Everett currently has an 18-game losing streak at the Spokane Arena.

Tickets for all Chiefs home games are available in-person at the Chiefs' Ticket Office, over the phone at (509) 535-PUCK, via TicketsWest outlets and online at www.ticketswest.com.
