SHANIKO, OR - Oregon State Police say a commercial truck driver only suffered minor injuries in a crash that sent his truck rolling off Highway 97.
Police say the icy conditions caused the driver to lose control near Shaniko Sunday morning as he drove downhill and entered a curve.
Troopers say the truck and the semi-trailer it was pulling, went across the northbound lanes and off the west side of the highway, rolling onto its top. The trailer split open and spilled apples across the embankment.
Police say both fuel tanks punctured, leaking approximately 140 gallons of diesel on the ground.
The truck's driver, who was using safety restraints, was able to get out of the truck on his own power with minor injuries.
Paramedics took him to St. Charles Medical Center in Madras. Police haven't released his name.
