YAKIMA, WA - Firefighters from around the state are in Yakima this week for one of Washington's largest firefighter training conferences.

The five day Training, Safety and Officer's Convention includes more than 200 departments. Firefighters are participating in dozens of different simulations and training exercises each day to learn the best methods for every situation.

"That's what it's all about," Captain Ted Vander Houwen of the Yakima Fire Department said. "Getting everybody on the same page and growing anywhere we can. Because fire service is one of those thing that you never stop learning. If you think you've got it, you're missing something."

This is the third straight year that Yakima has hosted the conference. The Washington Fire Chiefs plan to have the annual conference at the Yakima Convention Center for the next two years as well.
