The Pirates claimed their second consecutive trip to the NCAA Division III tournament with a 68-65 win over top-ranked Whitman in the Northwest Conference tournament championship game on Saturday. Whitworth returns to the NCAA Tournament for the third time, and seeks its first NCAA tournament win.

George Fox makes its 10th NCAA tournament appearance, and the Bruins were the NCAA DIII champion in 2009. The Bruins have a 23-8 NCAA post-season record and were the national runner-up in 2012. This will be the fourth meeting between the Pirates and the Bruins. The teams split the regular season meetings and Whitworth defeated George Fox 74-55 in the Northwest Conference tournament semifinal last Thursday.

Three Northwest Conference teams were selected to the NCAA field, as Whitman hosts Carthage in the other half of the bracket.

First round game times on Friday are still to be officially determined.
