KENNEWICK, WA - A record 210,000 tons of wine grapes were harvest last year in Washington. The U.S. Department of Agriculture says that's up 12% from the previous year's record harvest.
The report released Monday said cabernet sauvignon was the top variety in the state, with 42,600 tons. Chardonnay came in second with 40,500 tons. White Riesling came in third at 40,200 tons with merlot in fourth at 36,000 tons.
All of the top four varieties increased production over 2012.
