NEAR PENDLETON, OR - Oregon State Police continue to investigate Sunday night's fatal accident along Interstate 84, east of Pendleton.

OSP says around 7:30PM Sunday, they were called out to several traffic crashes, including one involving a semi-truck that had lost control on the ice and crashed on the side of the road. The trailer of that semi was partially resting on the highway. A series of other crashes followed the first accident, with three other semi-trucks hitting that semi.

After the secondary crashes, 51-year-old Mario Santana of Richland was found dead inside the 2009 Peterbilt truck he was driving. He was pulling two empty milk trailer containers.

Another semi-truck driver, 51-year-old Gerald Alexander of Texas, was ejected from the 2003 Western Star truck he was driving.  Alexander's body was found about 3/4 a mile from the crash scene, after he was pulled along by another vehicle.

Investigators are working with the State Medical Examiner and OSP Forensic Services Division, along with speaking to any witnesses, to figure out what kind of vehicle may have dragged Alexander down the road.

Currently, the investigation is looking into the possibility that an Oregon Department of Transportation snow plow coming through the area may have accidentally pushed Alexander's body down the road.
