PENDLETON, OR - An Airedale that wandered into the Eastern Oregon backcountry and was rescued four days later struggling in deep snow has been reunited with his owner.

Larry Bankston of Hermiston went out to the country last week to get his son, whose vehicle was stuck in snow. Curly Bear went along.

While Bankston got the son, the dog disappeared. Father and son searched until dark. Bankston was back the next day searching, and again when the stuck vehicle was towed. No Curly Bear.

Bankston called the Forest Service, checked classifieds and asked his church to pray. Finally, a relative saw a story in the East Oregonian about snowmobilers finding an Airedale without collar or tags last Saturday.

And after a phone call to identify Curly Bear, he was back home.
