KENNEWICK, WA - Washington's Attorney General is concerned about the cleanup process. The AG's Office has historically been, and is still today, very involved with Hanford issues.

Bob Ferguson and Governor Jay Inslee signed and sent a letter to Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz last month. They said they want answers concerning possible solutions after several missed and at-risk deadlines on the site.

"The continued inability of the federal government to meet these critical deadlines is very troubling to me. Our legal team is ready to try and enforce Consent Decree which we put in place a couple years ago and use the legal tools at our disposal under that Consent Decree," said Ferguson.

Ferguson said they'll have to wait and see what Secretary Moniz says on his next visit. But in the meantime, the Attorney General's office will continue to prepare for legal action if it comes to that.
