YAKIMA, WA - If you saw a big tour bus driving through the Yakima Area Wednesday, you might have run into "The Fast for Families" group. Their destination Congressman Doc Hastings office.

One by one about 15 to 20 people came off the bus, talking about their own personal experiences with immigrating from another country and how they want Rep. Hastings to encourage House leadership to call a vote for immigration reform this year.

They're encouraging supporters to fast in solidarity of their movement.

Last year, the Senate passed immigration reform that would allow the estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants currently living in the United States temporary legal status. However, the legislation has yet to pass the house.

"My family is still on the verge to see a path to citizenship," said Sergio Lara. "And so we work very hard not only in the fields but also in schools and universities, and so we deserve an opportunity to become full functioning members of society."

NBC Right Now reached out to Rep. Hastings to get comments about the Fast for Families Campaign. Multiple calls and emails to Hastings and his press team were unreturned Wednesday.
