UPDATE/NBCRightNow.com A woman who was set on fire Thursday morning in Yakima is doing a lot better.

Elva Grant, 55, got into a fight with 48-year-old Stuart Bachman who then lit her on fire. Paramedics took her to Harborview Medical Center.

On Friday the nurse on duty told NBC Right Now Grant is doing much better and might move out of the ICU Friday.

She will stay at Harborview while nurses monitor her condition before she can come back to Yakima.

YAKIMA, WA - Police in Yakima said a man got into a fight with his girlfriend, dumped a chemical on her and then lit her on fire.

It happed around 5 a.m. Tuesday along the 1300 Block of South 12th Avenue.

Police said 48-year-old Stuart Bachman poured a fluid on 55-year-old Elva Grant, and then lit her on fire. Police said she was flown to Seattle's Harborview Medical Center.

A next door neighbor, who wants to remain anonymous, said the scary commotion woke her up.

"They kept banging each other on my part of the wall cause my room is right next to where it started all the fire, and yeah they were just yelling."

Police said Bachman took off but was spotted by a patrol officer a few hours later and taken into custody.

Police said he's facing charges of assault, arson and harassment. He'll make his first court appearance Friday.

The fire started around 5:00am in the 1300 Block of South 12th Avenue.

Firefighters contained the fire one half of the duplex, causing about $50,000 in damage.
